Demand Issued Against Former Carthage High School Employee

JACKSON- Investigators in the State Auditor’s Office issued a civil demand today in the amount of $52,340 to Gena Quick Scott. Scott is a former office manager of Carthage High School, which is now Leake Central High School.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering said a complaint was received by the Auditor’s Office in 2011 from the Leake County School District that funds received from school clubs, sporting events and concessions were not being deposited.

“Hard work goes into raising funds from extracurricular activities at schools,” Auditor Pickering said. “Ms. Scott was personally responsible for making sure the money was properly deposited; she did not, which makes here civilly liable to replace the funds.”

Scott, 49, worked as office manager of the school for 17 years.
